The Cathedral of Thorns is a full building-sized illuminated labyrinth on the Caribbean island of Curaçao. Visitors are invited to walk through its corridors and experience an artistic journey through a troublesome history toward a bright future; both sides are represented by the hostile yet beautiful thorns. To raise consciousness of the similarities between religions, the design includes symbols of today's world religions and ancient nature-based religions. The walls have niches containing objects of contemporary art by guest artists, expressing mankind's ability to change, share and collaborate through creativity. In addition, the labyrinth also functions as a stage for performances. The Cathedral of Thorns was designed by Herman van Bergen, winner of the International Sculpture Award, 2023 and the prestigious Cola Debrot Award in 2016, and was constructed by unemployed youth. This work of art (in progress) unites all themes of Van Bergen's previous thorn-art sculptures into one expansive project: a building honoring Mother Nature and the Free Spirit that achieves change through creativity.

The Curacao Hato Cave is located on the north side of the island and only 4 minutes driving or 12 minutes walking from the Curacao International Airport. The Hato Cave, being more than 300.000 years old, is the biggest and most prominent cave on the island. Since 1991 the Hato Cave was officially open to the public after undergoing an intensive upgrading by the Government of Curacao to make it accessible by foot. Nowadays, the Curacao Hato Cave can be considered the most beautiful and public-friendly cave of the island. Curacao is formed in layers going up in height, which are called ‘terraces’. While most caves are to be found in the second terrace, the Hato Cave is uniquely found in the third terrace of the island. So in order to reach the entrance of this unique upstairs limestone cave, you’ll have to walk up 49 steps. This may sound like a lot, but it’s actually quite doable! And once upstairs you are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the area and a nice cool breeze. Once inside the cave, it’s easy walking on a smooth paved path, fully illuminated, with limited steps. The steps and pathways are lined with handrails for extra support and safety. The cave consist of marine coral limestone, which accumulated over millions of years and after sea levels had dropped were exposed to atmospheric corrosion and karst processes.

Kokomo beach is located at Vaersenbaai.. A beautifull natural bay on the road to Bullenbaai. Kokomo has a surfers look with a classy touch. Kokomo opened in june 2011 and soon became famous for the monthly Full moon parties. Kokomo is the ideal beach to enjoy a quiet day with the whole family, have a great lunch, try one of our delicious cocktails or just fall in love with the cristal clear water!! We have lounges to relax, read a book, or just hang out with an icecold beer!!

Pocket bays The Shete Boka National Park is an area adjoining the Christoffel Park covering almost 10 kilometers of the rocky wave-exposed north coast of the island. The park has approximately 10 pocket bays where 3 species of sea turtles are known to lay eggs. A detailed map of the pocket bays is available for purchase at the entrance of the park. The park begins at Boka Tabla, where huge waves thunder into an underground cavern. Steps cut into the rocks lead you directly into the mouth of the cavern; you can sit on the very edge and watch the surf roll in. After you peek inside the cavern you can walk along the limestone bluffs above for a spectacular view of Curacaos rugged north coast. The inlets in the park are protected turtle breeding areas.
